As of 17 October 6.28pm, The EB Alumni Choir has been officially named
THE EDWARD BECHERAS VOCALE
The name Vocale was decided upon after an inaugural vote which included the members, Mr. Nelson Kwei and Mr. Denis Leong, without all these folks the Vocale might never have been in the 1st place. So thanks for all your votes and ideas and apologies if your choice eventually wasn't picked but hey, not much different from Singapore idol yeah?
Today was the first oppicial meeting of members and there, that is to say, at Gabriel Cheow's house, we decided on a few things. For example, would it be a better idea to attack Siam or Texas ("Risk" on the computer). That aside, we finished learning "The Longest Time" by Billy Joel. We'd need to brush up on the approach of the song. Oh well it's only the first practice, so hakuna matata!
Practices will be on friday evenings although the venue is yet to be decided; anyone with an idea please tell gabriel or any Vocale member.
If you have not much of an idea why we're holding the practices for, it's for our debut performance which will be at the SFX Youth Choir's annual concert, Behold the Lamb II, on the 18th December 2004, at the the Church of St Francis Xavier.
Our legislation is fairly simple and it was decided upon by the members present at the 1st meeting:
1) The decision-making process of the Vocale will be a democratic one, wtih every member being entitled to a vote. However, either Mr. Kwei or Mr. Leong has the right to veto any decision made.
2) In order to join EBVocale, the singer needs to have at least 3 years of choral performing experience in the Edward Becheras Choir. Exceptions might be grated to those who have made significant contributions to the EBC. This will be voted upon by the members of the Vocale.
3) In addition to Clause 2, one also requires at least 75% of the Vocale members' approval to join. The process will once again be a democratic one as much as possible. Once again, refer to Clause 1.
4) To take a leaf out of Mr. Leong's book: relationships are prohibited within the group.
